Reminder: How to solve a rational function when f(x) = 0
Note: The numerator in this example is linear, so it's simply a matter of getting x by itself. However, the numerator could be quadratic or cubic, in which case, you might use factoring & zero product property. Or it might be a square root, in which case you would solve by squaring both sides. Whatever type of expression the numerator is, you'll have to chose the appropriate method to solve after you've set it equal to zero.
